Overcoming My Fear Of Yellow

“Yellow is definitely not my color.” I always thought to myself. I just thought that my olive complexion and yellow do not mix. Makes me look like a big Italian banana, extra green!!! Brings out more of my dark green undertone of my skin. Only cool blue undertones can pull off yellow, I thought. Well, I was wrong! I decided to wear yellow once more and I looked and felt good about myself!

For my first yellow item of clothing, I picked out this off the shoulder peasant top and paired it with a denim skirt that I’ve had for over five years, I would say more close to ten years. My advice is never to throw away staples, such as a jean skirt or jacket, they tend to cycle in and out every couple of years. And next thing you know, BOOM! Vintage clothing! Right in your closet and you didn’t have to go shopping! But if or when you to do buy something like that make sure it’s not distressed or have any kind of trendy design. So it’s easier to piece together and keep.

Now, the top was great! Nice, smooth, thin top for the summer. Great for trying to keep cool. I say trying because it’s so humid right now in New Jersey nothing you wear will be cool enough to keep you from sweating. In Jersey summers you can wear Pima or Egyptian cotton and still can’t breathe. I really don’t know how I’m going to survive this Augst weather!

I paired it all together with some summer wedges that I found at Torrid on sale. With sandals, I never spend too much, because they are so trendy they go out of style in a season or two. And then next thing you know, you have to find new ones to go with your outfits.

Next spring/summer season I will pick-up more yellow for you all!

Love You All,
