Picky Mad Hatter

I wouldn’t say I don’t like hats, I would just say I am picky about my hats. I like my hats simple and practical. None of those fancy hats that the Royal Family wears that look like a sculpture on top of your head. I like bennies, beret, newsboy hats, baseball caps, and fedoras to name a few. I would never wear something like this…..

To me, a hat is an accessory and should never take away from an outfit. It should be apart of the outfit, enhancing it or compliment it. Personally, I don’t wear enough hats to call for having a hat like this in my wardrobe. If I ever was invited to an event that called for a hat like this, the fanciest I would wear would be a simple 1940’s vintage pillbox hat (with no feathers or flowers). I guess it’s just not my style.

I do not wear hats a lot, but as we move into the cooler months here in the northern hemisphere, you will see me wear beanies to keep my ears warm.  Now other hats, like this newsboy hat or baseball cap, I will wear during the summer months to keep the sun off of me. Especially, when I know I will be outside hiking or at a concert. I really don’t like the sun beating down on me, I prefer not to increase the risk of skin cancer. Sorry, not my style.

Now, this newsboy cap is new to my wardrobe and I thought it would be a perfect introduction to my viewpoint on hats. It just adds a little something to the edginess of the outfit. I love this outfit, down to the combat boots. It’s perfect for the fall! The zippers on the flannel pants are classic punk rock. I paired it with one of my favorite band tees. Which I love to wear over and over again. I never destroy or alter my band tees for this reason (unlike some other bloggers I know) because I know I will wear them over and over again with many different outfits.

Have fun this fall!!!!

Love you all,
