Man!! It has been a hectic week for me. I haven’t sat down in front of my computer for three days, that is a whole new record for me. My family and I experienced a sudden death in the family and that had to take priority over other things. We all had to pay our respect to our loved one, morn, and say goodbye. Unfortunately, we all die in the end, some sooner than others. Death is a part of living in this world.
Like I promised I wanted to give you cherry blossoms and I did! I hope this will be a yearly thing for me to do for you all. Usually, everyone goes into the city of Philadelphia at Fairmount Park to see a large group of cherry trees. But I found out something better, in Cherry Hill, NJ, along Church Street the town decided to plant cherry trees along the road in honor of the 911 attacks and the service people who were there to respond to the aftermath. I know here I am talking about more death!
Well, in the spring when they hit peak bloom, with cherry trees flower blooming only last two weeks out of the year. So you have to get out and see very fast. Once this hits, Church Street is transformed and the street is just lit up with pink flowers. I mean people were getting out of their cars just to take pictures of the trees. I mean I could not get a bad photograph with all this flower action.
I wore what I did because I actually didn’t want to take away from the beautiful cherry blossoms. Yes, for once I did not want to be the center of attention with my photos. I wanted the beautiful trees to be the main focus. So I wore a simple monochromatic outfit. Except for the shoes, which are black but you can always use a navy heal too, that would work too.
I personally love mixing different shades of blue when it comes to an outfit. When I wear denim on denim, I actually love the way a dark wash looks with a light wash. I don’t like it when the jeans and jacket are the same wash and are too matchy, matchy. Having different washes gives more depth to the outfit and makes it more exciting. The same thing goes for my shirt and jeans here in this outfit. The light blue pinstripe with the dark denim jeans. For some reason, the miss-match works and looks amazing.
I got this pinstripe button down shirt from my local Lane Bryant outlet last season and I just saved it in my closet. I will post what I can find similar down below for you all. I’m more into essentials right now and I am trying to find and pick-up pieces that I know will be just timeless. Let’s just face it, pinstripes will never go out! I added my Mary Janes and some hoop earrings. The wallet was a gift from my sister, the red and yellow it adds a touch of color to the outfit.
Hope to give you more blog post soon! Whenever I am able to do catch-up. June is going to be a busy month for me. My whole month is pretty much already booked.
Love you all,
Valerie (a.k.a. Jersey Girl)
